Commercial
Sales & Business Development
Sales & Business Development sell medicine to hospitals, pharmacies, wholesalers and pharmaceutical companies all over the world. A job in Business Development is all about products as well as market research, analysis, daily operations and customer service.
Purchase
Purchase is responsible for procuring all the medicine that the Abacus Medicine Group is parallel distributing. Our Purchase department works with suppliers in many European countries and enjoys working with people from many different cultures. The job is a mix of being analytical and building great business relationships.

Operations & Quality Assurance
Product Development
Product Development validate new potential products found by Business Development by analysing the profitability of these products. It is their responsibility to ensure that new profitable products become sellable. The department is divided into three categories: maintaining the master data, analysing and validating the new potential product, and notifying trademark holders.
Regulatory Affairs and Product Support
In Regulatory Affairs, the main responsibility is to ensure the Abacus Medicine Group’s authorisation to sell medicine. They are often in close contact with public authorities and need to be able to speak their cases in order to succeed in obtaining the licenses to buy and sell medicine. A job in Regulatory Affairs requires the ability to understand many different regulations and legislations across various countries.
Quality Assurance
The key responsibility in Quality Assurance is to ensure the quality of the products which the Abacus Medicine Group manufactures and distributes. We are a company that purchases, repacks, stores and distributes pharmaceutical products. For this reason, we must comply and operate in accordance with pharmaceutical regulations and legislations, known as Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Distribution Practices (GDP).
Supply Chain
In Supply Chain, they ensure an efficient and smooth product flow from suppliers to production sites and later to customers. Their key task is to plan the production and transportation of the Abacus Medicine Group’s products. In Supply Chain, you need to be a “nutcracker”, as you need to find solutions to the unexpected challenges and changes that emerge during production and transportation.

Engineering and Technology Operations
In ETO, they ensure the best possible technological landscape for the production sites of the Abacus Medicine Group. They are also responsible for operating, maintaining and supporting our Serialization System and all production-related equipment. In addition, they manage all technical projects that can help us meet future growth expectations. In general, they translate business requirements into technological solutions that benefit the workflow across the Group. The solutions they build are both within machines and automation – both software and hardware.
Supply Chain

Production & Warehouse
We have production facilities and warehouses located in Budapest, Hungary and Alkmaar, the Netherlands. As we re-sell medicine across Europe, most of our products need to be repackaged according to their new destination (end-market). Our Product & Warehouse staff perform the un- and repacking of the medicine according to the legislation in the new end-market. The purpose of the Warehouse is to receive and store all products, medicine, medical devices and printed and/or regular packaging materials, and then put them into our storage facility. When the products are finished in production, they are sent either to our own Abacus Medicine Group storage place/distribution center in Berlin or Alkmaar or to our customers.

Administration & Business Support
Finance
Our Finance department is segmented into various units within finance. Accounting, which handles daily financial transactions like payment of suppliers, payroll and invoicing. Group Controlling focuses on taking care of external reporting and compliance with financial legislation. ERP & Inventory deals with Dynamics365 implementation and support, and control of our inventory. And finally, Business Partnering is responsible for evaluating our financial performance.
IT
IT is responsible for providing the best possible infrastructure for the operating systems and networks that our colleagues use. They work to optimise the ways our colleagues communicate, collaborate and automate routine tasks through IT systems. In IT, they work with IT Governance, IT Infrastructure, IT Helpdesk, Application Management, IT Integrations and Digitalization.
Global Communications & Marketing
In Global Communications & Marketing, they are responsible for corporate communication, employer branding, marketing and internal communications. They work to create a strong brand and company reputation among stakeholders. Activities include media contact, visual layouts, websites, the Annual Report, employer branding and sustainability communication. They are also responsible for our marketing communication in the promotion of our services and products. Activities include material for fairs, advertising and newsletters to customers.
Strategy
In Strategy, they are responsible for effective strategy process facilitation, project support for Must Win Battles, reporting, resource overview and deployment of strategic initiatives. They work with a wide array of colleagues across functions and backgrounds to ensure cascading and implementation of the Abacus Medicine Group’s strategy.
Legal
The Legal department monitors the risks connected to the Abacus Medicine Group’s business from a legal point of view and works to minimise the involved risks in our business. They ensure compliance throughout our organisation, and that we stay updated on new legislation affecting the Abacus Medicine Group and implement it throughout our organisation.

Human Resources
The responsibility of HR is to ensure that all levels of the organisation support the overall strategy and vision. They do this by attracting and retaining the right employees who match Abacus Medicine’s organisational values, through employer branding. They use data to make decisions and help others ask the right questions to get the right answers. Through this, they are able to identify which competencies we need to focus on and develop among our employees. Business knowledge is crucial for HR, as they help create the best possible cultural framework on the basis of what the top management wants and what the employees value.
Facility Management & Reception
In Facility Management, they support and maintain the physical workplace, e.g. buildings, equipment and infrastructure. Our receptionists perform various tasks from greeting our employees and visitors, answering telephones, supplying refreshments for meetings to organizing larger events and everything in between.
Legal

Business Analytics consists of an ambitious team of data analysts and scientists working to solve real problems across Sales, Supply Chain, Finance and other departments. They use a data-driven in-house consulting perspective to deliver actionable insights to key decision-makers throughout the entire company.

Business Analytics

Enterprise Systems
Enterprise Systems is responsible for the development and maintenance of our data warehouse as well as our two core IT Systems; Dynamics365 for Finance and Operations, and our decision-making and trading software. The department consists of in-house software developers, engineers, functional consultants, and project managers, and is divided into three teams: software maintenance, software development and project governance. Their motivation is to create innovative data-driven solutions to core business problems in a friendly and professional environment. They are working closely with the business side to make sure that business needs are incorporated into the specifications and functions required.
