Abacus Medicine contributes to savings of € 99.5 million for the Danish pharmaceutical market in 2021.
A report published by The Danish Association of Parallel Importers of Pharmaceuticals highlights the transformational impact of Parallel imports on the Danish pharmaceutical market.
Key findings in the report:
- In 2021, the savings of parallel import of medicine on the Danish market amounted to € 99.5 million
- Parallel imports of medicine provide an average cost saving of 16% per product
- Almost 30% of the medicine in the Danish pharmacies is supplied by parallel importers
Even though only 8% of the medicines in the hospital sector come from parallel importers, the savings in the hospital sector increased by as much as nearly € 6.5 million, equivalent to 74%, between 2018 and 2021.
If this positive development continues, parallel imports will have a greater impact on the hospital sector, which will be even more beneficial for the Danish patients and the Danish society.
The record-high results presented in the report reaffirms how our purpose to improve healthcare through better access to medicine truly makes a great impact.
